From the moment I contacted Smartfix I felt my job was important. The communication was immediate and continuous and the job was quickly booked in and efficiently carried out. The workmanship was excellent. I now have 3 new outside lights and a new sensor that work perfectly. Oh and they look great too. Both men I dealt with were professional and helpful.

Smartfix Electricians did an excellent job when my electrics blew. Being a Friday it was very difficult to find anyone however Smartfix came immediately all the way to Mandurah from Clarkson. Everyone was very professional, polite and the workmanship was excellent. They cleaned up after themselves which I’ve never had before. After the job was completed I had two electricians visit to inspect the work which I’ve also never had done before…

I used Smartfix for some electrical work I needed done before putting my property on the market & was so impressed with their quality of work & service. They were quick to quote the job & provide cost effective solutions when what I wanted wasn’t feasible. They left the place clean & tidy after the job even gave my dog a toy which she loved. Highly recommend & would use again!

I have had two repairs completed by Smartfix tradies this week. The oven was repaired by Ryan and Jamie on Tuesday and the work was completed quickly and efficiently. A new power board was installed on Thursday by Tom and John who were very conscientious in explaining the new features of the power board. Even the manager rang me on Tuesday to explain the problems with my old power board. Lovely staff.

Frequently asked questions

Smartfix has developed a reputation amongst our clients as being honest, reliable, efficient and provide a professional service that delivers what we promise.

What types of power points can I get installed in my home?

The most common options are standard double GPOs, USB power points, switched power points, 15A outlets for heavy appliances, weatherproof outdoor power points, and surge-protected power points. Your electrician will recommend the right type based on the room and how it’s used.

How long does it take to install a power point?

A simple replacement takes 30–60 minutes. A new installation requiring cable to be run through walls or roof space typically takes 1–3 hours. Older Perth homes with double brick walls or limited wall cavities can add time to the job.

How much does it cost to install a power point in Perth?

The price depends on the power point type, cable run and your home’s construction. Simple replacements usually cost less than new installations that need extra wiring. Smartfix provides clear upfront pricing with no surprises.

How do I know if my power points need to be replaced or checked?

Warning signs include discolouration around the socket, a burning smell, sparking when plugging in, loose fittings, or outlets that stop working. These indicate a worn or unsafe connection. Older Perth homes may also have outdated outlets worth having assessed even without visible problems.

How many power points does each room need?

Most rooms need at least two double power points. Kitchens and home offices typically need more. If you’re regularly using extension cords or power boards, that’s a sign the room needs more fixed outlets. A licensed electrician can assess your circuits and recommend the right number.

Can I install power points myself, or do I need an electrician?

You need a licensed electrician. In Western Australia, installing or replacing a power point is illegal for unlicensed people. DIY electrical work can void your home insurance and create serious fire risks.
