Yes. a renovation is the best time to do it. The National Construction Code requires kitchen ventilation to discharge outside the building, not into the roof cavity. Gas cooktops must have external ducting. Smartfix can wire your rangehood or exhaust fan and run new ducting as part of your renovation scope.
Check the L/s (litres per second) rating on the fan, not the wattage. Bathrooms require a minimum of 25 L/s, kitchens and laundries 40 L/s.
