From the moment I contacted Smartfix I felt my job was important. The communication was immediate and continuous and the job was quickly booked in and efficiently carried out. The workmanship was excellent. I now have 3 new outside lights and a new sensor that work perfectly. Oh and they look great too. Both men I dealt with were professional and helpful.

Smartfix Electricians did an excellent job when my electrics blew. Being a Friday it was very difficult to find anyone however Smartfix came immediately all the way to Mandurah from Clarkson. Everyone was very professional, polite and the workmanship was excellent. They cleaned up after themselves which I’ve never had before. After the job was completed I had two electricians visit to inspect the work which I’ve also never had done before…

I used Smartfix for some electrical work I needed done before putting my property on the market & was so impressed with their quality of work & service. They were quick to quote the job & provide cost effective solutions when what I wanted wasn’t feasible. They left the place clean & tidy after the job even gave my dog a toy which she loved. Highly recommend & would use again!

I have had two repairs completed by Smartfix tradies this week. The oven was repaired by Ryan and Jamie on Tuesday and the work was completed quickly and efficiently. A new power board was installed on Thursday by Tom and John who were very conscientious in explaining the new features of the power board. Even the manager rang me on Tuesday to explain the problems with my old power board. Lovely staff.

Frequently asked questions

Smartfix has developed a reputation amongst our clients as being honest, reliable, efficient and provide a professional service that delivers what we promise.

How much does it cost to install a ceiling fan in Perth?

Ceiling fan installation costs vary depending on whether existing wiring is in place, ceiling height, and fan type. Fans with integrated lighting, smart controls, or remote systems may also affect the price. Call Smartfix for a fixed-price quote with no hidden fees.

What's the difference between AC and DC fans?

AC fans are usually more affordable upfront and suit many standard homes. DC fans are generally quieter, more energy-efficient and better for bedrooms, studies and living areas. The right choice depends on your budget, room use and how often the fan runs.

Can you install a ceiling fan where there's no wiring?

Yes, but additional work is required. A common approach is replacing an existing light fitting with a remote controlled fan and using the existing light wiring to power it. Where no wiring exists at all, a licensed electrician will run new cabling from your switchboard.

Can I install a ceiling fan myself?

Yes. If your ceiling fan needs electrical wiring, it must be installed by a licensed electrician. DIY electrical work is unsafe, illegal and may affect your insurance or warranty.

Can I put a ceiling fan outside?

Yes, as long as you choose a fan suited to the location. Outdoor and alfresco areas need weather-resistant fans, and Perth coastal homes may need corrosion-resistant models because of salt air. Smartfix electrician can recommend the right option for your space.

How long does installation take?

Most standard installations take 60–90 minutes. Jobs involving new wiring, high ceilings, or multiple fans will take longer depending on access and structural conditions. Smartfix will give you an accurate time estimate at booking.

Can you install an exhaust fan during a kitchen renovation?

Yes. a renovation is the best time to do it. The National Construction Code requires kitchen ventilation to discharge outside the building, not into the roof cavity. Gas cooktops must have external ducting. Smartfix can wire your rangehood or exhaust fan and run new ducting as part of your renovation scope.

How do I know if my bathroom exhaust fan is powerful enough?

Check the L/s (litres per second) rating on the fan, not the wattage. Bathrooms require a minimum of 25 L/s, kitchens and laundries 40 L/s. If your fan falls short, it won’t clear moisture fast enough — and mould follows. A Smartfix electrician will assess your current setup and recommend the right capacity for your space.
