Compact, quiet, and discreet—cassette air conditioning systems are the perfect energy-efficient choice for larger spaces.
How Cassette Air Conditioning Works
A cassette air conditioner sits flush in the ceiling and connects to an outdoor unit through refrigerant pipework, electrical wiring and a drain line. The indoor unit draws warm air in, cools or heats it, then sends conditioned air back into the room through multiple outlets.
This design helps spread airflow more evenly than a standard wall mounted unit, especially in larger rooms, open living areas, garages, workshops, granny flats and home additions. Because the unit is installed in the ceiling, it keeps wall space clear and avoids the need for a full ducted system.
Cassette Air Con Servicing Perth
Cassette air conditioners need regular servicing to maintain airflow, cooling performance and energy efficiency. This is especially important when you move into a home with an existing ceiling cassette and do not know when it was last checked. Our technicians inspect the key parts that affect performance and reliability. Every cassette system is different, so our team will assess the unit and provide a clear custom quote before any repair or extra work begins.
Cassette Air Con Repairs Perth
Cassette air conditioners can develop faults over time, especially when filters, drain lines, coils or internal parts have not been serviced regularly. If the ceiling unit is leaking water, making unusual noises, blowing weak airflow or struggling to cool the room evenly, it is worth getting it checked before the issue causes more damage. A small blockage or worn part can place extra strain on the system and lead to a more expensive repair if left too long.
Cassette Air Conditioning Installation Perth
Cassette systems are a strong option for spaces where wall room is limited or where airflow needs to reach more than one side of the room. Installed flush in the ceiling, they provide even air distribution without a wall mounted indoor unit or a full ducted system. This makes them suitable for garages, workshops, granny flats, home additions, games rooms and larger open areas across Perth.
Our licensed installers assess ceiling space, unit size, drainage, electrical requirements and outdoor unit location before recommending the right system.

This company were on time for the quote I needed to replace an old unit. They measured so that everything on the wall from the old unit was covered, perfect no extra painting and the put the outside unit in a way better position. I had installation and they young man they sent was awesome. Kept me informed every step of the way. Cleaned up and said anything I wasn’t sure of or that changed to just give them a call. Put my mind at rest. Highly recommend 💯

My aircon died 3 months after having it serviced by Brian’s Airconditional and Refridgeration Solutions who refused to honour the part and work garrantee provided due to the age of the unit. I spent a frustrating day locating an installer who could install a new unit within a couple of days before an advancing heatwave. Smartfix were the only ones capable to doing so and carried the top rate, awarded unit I wanted. Responsive, friendly and polite.

I have used Smartfix for various sections of their business & always found them to be very helpful & knowledgeable. My latest experience was having my air-conditioning serviced ready for summer. From my initial enquiry to the completion of the job, both tradesmen who attended were friendly & courteous. Thank you Tyler for prompt arrival in this instance. I would recommend Smartfix as the “go to” company based on the service i have received.

Cassette systems can suit some homes, but they are not usually the first choice for most standard rooms. They work best in larger open-plan areas, extensions or spaces with limited wall space. For bedrooms and smaller rooms, a wall-mounted split system is usually more practical and cost-effective.
Yes, many cassette air conditioners are reverse-cycle systems, which means they can provide cooling in summer and heating in winter. This makes them suitable for year-round comfort, especially in larger rooms, open-plan areas and spaces where even airflow is important.
Typically 6 to 8 hours depending on ceiling type and access conditions. Suspended ceilings are quicker; plasterboard ceilings require cutting, framing, and finishing, which adds time.
Cassette air conditioners are best suited to larger rooms, open-plan living areas, dining areas, offices and spaces where wall-mounted split systems are not ideal. Because the indoor unit is installed in the ceiling, it works well when you want more even airflow and a cleaner look. However, the property needs enough ceiling space for the unit, pipework and drainage, so a professional assessment is recommended before installation.
Yes. Almost every cassette unit sold in Australia is inverter-driven, varying compressor speed to match the load — reaching set temperature quickly, then running at a low steady state to reduce energy use.
Cassettes cost more but are more powerful, better suited to large open spaces. Wall-mounted splits are more practical and affordable for smaller rooms. The right choice depends on room size and available ceiling space.
